Can you explain this to me? I send a paper check to a charge card co. to pay my bill.?

When the next statement comes it says, thank you for your electronic check. But I sent a paper check & where did to paper check disappear to ? Thanks for any info.

  1. As part of your agreement that you signed, you agreed to them processing your paper check electronically.  That gets rid of the"float" time that used to exist when making payments with your check.  It works the same way as a debit card now.  They run your account number and the funds are pulled from your account the day they get the check.

  3. It's because most places now are processing all payments electronically.

    For example when you write a check at walmart they run it through the scanner and your check information is electronically read and recorded. Your paper check is then handed back to you for you to do with it whatever you want.

    You check will be sent to the bank just like any other you mailed in. What the bank does with it depends on their policy.

  4. This is common now and legal.  The paper check is converted to an EFT transaction and the physical check is destroyed.
