basically all i know is that depending on how many gears you have, thats how many engines you have, each of which runs in a certain range of speed. what is that meter called that rises to the red section when you should switch gears? and what is happening when you "stall?"

remember to dumb down your answers please!! =)

thanks

  1. How many engines? They make cars with more than one engine? I don't think you're ready to drive a stick. But, here is how to drive a stick.

  2. Best advice when learning to drive a stick is when you are in first gear remember you do not have to let the clutch all the way out to start rolling...once it starts rolling only let it out a little faster not all the sudden..

the red on the tach  is the redline(shift here  to get the most torque and horsepower), unless you are racing you do not want to shift at the redline. Most passenger cars respond well to about 2000 rpm before you shift to the next gear..

you stall when you have selected a gear that is to high for the speed of your vehicle... say your going 20 nph in 2nd gear and you shift to 5th gear.. your motor will probably stall (cut off)

  3. Wow you are wrong.  The shifting has to do with the transmission not the number of engines you have--in fact you only have one engine in a car.  You should swith around 2 1/2 to 3 thousand RPM's you shouldn't let it get into the redzone.  That is hard on your car.  When you stall the engine cuts off.  It isn't easy to explain how to drive a stick without being in the car with you.  Try to find someone who knows nearby where you are and ask them to show you.

  4. driving a sticks not something you can learn on the internet it takes practice. My grandad taught me out in the woods on his old truck that was some off the best days of my life .It isn`t hard just takes a little practice .Ive had lots of cars and trucks ,but they`ve all been stick shift ,sorta a tribute to my papa i guess ,heres a link to a you tube vid on it

  5. The meter is the RPM revolution per minute. Stalling means the engine stopped. When shifting gears most people don't look at the meter, they shift by sound. Good luck!
