Can you explain to me how to use the AE-L and the AF-l button on my nikon d60?

The AE-L (auto exposure lock) will lock the exposure as long as you keep it pressed.  This is useful if you are in a situation where the lighting is changing rapidly, and you want to keep the exposure that the camera has chosen.

The AF-L (auto focus lock) will lock the focus as long as you keep it pressed.
