  1. I think you could give them a bit of fruit, but dried fruit would be better for them than fresh fruit. I reccomend veggies too. They can eat celery and things like that but do NOT feed them cucumber or strawberries as this can give them wet tail apparently and give them diorhoea. Hope this helps! xxxxx

  2. Vegetables Like Carrots, Celery And Lettuce. I Have A Cousin Who Has A Rabbit And He Feeds Him Stuff Like That

  3. yep. they are a species of mice afterall

  4. Of coarse you can ! jsut don't feed htem apple seeds or anything with citrus acid in it.

  5. Apart from providing your hamster with dry hamster food which can be purchased in pet shops, they should be given a small amount of fresh food daily, e.g. cabbage, broccoli, carrot, apple, French beans, corn on the cob, etc.  Do not give lettuce as this can be too wet for them.  Remove uneaten food daily so that it doesn't go moldy.

NEVER give your hamster chocolate - this is highly toxic for them.  Avoid giving 'pet' chocolate as well as this can clog up their face pouches if they do not empty them immediately.

If you have Campbell's that are diabetic, ensure they receive essential fatty acids in their diet - sunflower seeds, linseed, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds.  Give a small amount of these daily.  Do not give them sugary treats, or treats that have honey in them as these will make their condition worse.

Do not give salty peanuts.  Syrians enjoy monkey nuts as they spend time opening the shells and stripping the skin off the nut before storing.  I've not yet found a Campbell or other dwarf hamster who understands what to do with a monkey nut!

  6. yeah, they would have no problems with any of that. I would recommend letting the food heat back up, so it doesn't mess with their stomachs if it is really cold.

  7. It depends on what type of hamster you have.

If you have a dwarf, fruits should be avoided because of their high sugar content. Dwarf hamsters are prone to diabetes :[ You should stick to only veggies for them.

If you have a syrian [know as teddy bear or golden hamster], then fruits are OK :] Veggies should still be fed.

Take note that fruits and veggies must be fed in moderation to avoid diarrhea. Below is a list of fruits and veggies that are safe for your hamster.

  8. yes but only small piece a day.  They also enjoy a piece of hard boiled egg, no salt.  Mine like carrots baby ones, grapes, apple, celery, cheerios, no sugar.

  9. What about veggies, like carrots and lettuce :D
