  1. My midwife told me that babies are supposed to drink their weight times two in ounces each day. Example: my daughter was 11lbs 4 ounces last time she was weighed, so she should be drinking about 22 ounces a day.

If they are still drinking it, then it's not too much, but if they are wearing it, then they are done.

  2. I'm sure if they were gaining too much weight, you would know.

  3. Depends what you are feeding it

  4. When your wearing it then it was to much

  5. If you are breastfeeding, its impossible to overfeed a baby. They'll eat ONLY enough to fill themselves; they won't overeat.

If you are bottle-feeding with formula, yes! You can overfeed babies of all ages, and its not a pretty sight. =/

(Fussiness, gas, constipation, irritability, etc all result from overfeeding!)

The reasons why; when a baby drinks breastmilk, it takes them more energy and time to suckle enough to get a mouthful -- much MORE time to fill their stomachs -- so once they're fed, they are naturally ready to stop working for unnecessary milk. They are also naturally inclined to take only what's needed (nature at its finest).

When it comes to formula and bottles, you're the one preparing their food. Milk flows through bottles very quickly and much faster than a breast, so your baby is eating twice as fast as he would were he drinking breastmilk. PLUS if you aren't very aware of your baby's signals, he will continue to eat even when he's full because he isn't able to push the bottle away or tell you he's full.

If you're overfeeding your baby, he'll most likely spit-up a lot and have constipation. If you're really concerned, talk to your baby's doctor about it!

    Good luck! <3

  6. well it depends what your feeding it and what nutrients it gives...

  7. YES--most will say no, they will stop when they are full...not always...my dd has a strong need to suck, we thought she was still hungry so started giving her more...well, out it came!! there was no room, so we cut her back down a little and give her her passy right after so she can get her sucking satisfied and it is much better....after a little bit, she gets done with it and spits it out....and believe me, if she was still hungry, she would have nothing to do with a passy.....so YES, yes, they can and some will; she has never turned down food, never

  8. if they are hungry then feed him/her. But if they cry again and had just ate not too long ago then see if his/her diaper is wet, needs to be burp, or maybe just need to be comforted. Don't always give the baby a bottle just because he/she is crying.

  9. We just had this problem, lol.  Right before we went to the doctor our son seemed hungry.  We fed him and a few minutes later he was spitting up and it came out his nose.  We asked the doctor and she said a newborn's stomach is about as big as it's fist.  That's why they eat so little at first.

Sometimes when a baby has an upset stomach and gas pains, it seems like they're hungry.  They'll suck on a bottle like they're starving.  They do this because the sucking is something they do for comfort.  You just got to give him/ her a pacifier and hold them however long it takes.  Pat their back, or rub it from the top of the butt upwards to help the gas out in a burp.  Or lay them on their bellies and rub from right under the rib cage to the bottom of their belly.  Alternate that with moving their legs in a bicycle motion to let gas out the other way.

  10. Yes. Then they're sick.

  11. If a newborn takes too much milk in they will bring up the excess.

So I guess yes they can feed too much but if it wont fit in their tummy there is nowhere to go but back up and out.

With breastmilk you can not overfeed a baby. With formula you can.

  12. nooooo

  13. If you are nursing your newborn you should be aware that breast milk is more quickly metabolized than formula. Basically that means that the breast milk will digest quicker and your newborn will get hungrier more frequently. This is normal and you should nurse your newborn as often as they need.

If you decide at some point to use formula, you will notice that they aren't hungry as frequently. But if you are nursing, keep it up, since you are passing on your immunities to your newborn which may help them fight off diseases. Also, you will burn more calories simply by nursing your newborn.
