Can you feel how fast your going on a amtrak train?

Question

I have never been on a Amtrak train and would like to know If you can really feel how fast you are going. I have been on an air plane and I know you don't know how fast you are going. Plus I would never take greyhound again so hoping Amtrak is the right choice from Philadelphia Pa to Penn station New york.

For the most part, it is very smooth and you won't even think about the speed after the first 5 minutes.

Since you'll be traveling from Philadelphia to New York, you'll be on some of the best high-speed track in the nation.  The speed limit goes up to about 120 mph on some stretches of the track, and the trains were designed for high-speed running.  If you take the premium-priced Acela trains, you'll also be in a car that tilts slightly when going around curves, so as to improve the ride.

The ride will be pretty smooth.  You'll know you're going fast by looking out the window.

top speed on most Amtrak lines is 79 MPH and some of the high density lines inthe NOrtheas corridor run 120.

Yes if feels as if you are going fast, especially when you look out the windows.

It is a great ride.

You will enjoy your trip I think, much much better than a bus.

Yeah, you can feel it.  It's way faster than the bus and a better crowd too.  

If you're worried about cost, you could also look at taking SEPTA from Philly to Trenton and NJTransit from Trenton to NYC.
