  1. Yes, you can. This used to happen to me a lot when I had anxiety. Its hard to describe. It almost feels like your heart stops, then it comes back with a huge beat. They're usually harmless, but if it happens a lot, tell your doctor.

  2. It's called an arhythmia.  It's common and harmless.  I had them for awhile when I started running.  I was scared also and went to my doctor who told me what I just told you.

  3. I came down with pericardites from a strep throat when I was 27. It left me with a heart skip beat. It was worse when I drank coffee or tea. At first it was very noticeable and disturbing. But as time went by it became less and less bothersome. Now after 40 years I can tell when it happens but pay little attention to it. In it's early stage it does leave you with high anxiety.

  4. you can feel palpitations in your chest, if your heart beats irregularly.

You would be wise to go to your GP, and they will probably have you do an ECG, or EKG reading, where electrodes are placed on your body (sticky pads, they don't hurt whatsoever) and a reading is taken to measure how your heart is beating.

they will then be able to offer the best advice from there.

  5. The best term should be "Drop Beat". anyway, it may be harmless depending on how frequent they appear and for how long. Is this a recent onset or from your young age ? If new onset then it should be better to have an ECG tracing taken. Some times these are normal and require no treatment, but it should be unwise to leave them undiagnosed. Heart disease can be safely and successfully treated if diagnosed in time but waiting or saying like "harmless" may be dangerous.

  6. Skipping beats (these are usually early, premature beats) are common throughout your lifetime and cause no problems.  They can be caused by anxiety, stress, fatigue, or caffeine.  And, the more you pay attention to them, the more pronounced they will become.  Ignore them.
