Can you figure this one out. Have you ever dreamed that you were awake?

I had a bad dream last pm. I was really upset, and I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming. After realizing that I was awake, I was disappointed because I had to take action which I did, and it was one frustrating obstacle after another. When I really did awaken, I was very relieved to know it was all a dream.

  1. this is common. dreams trick your mind into thinking the situation is reality so that the message hits u harder.

dreaming u were awake made all of the events in the dream seem more real and so it made more of an effect on u. and of course, u must of been relieved it was all fake, but don't just forget it. dreams tell us important things and it would definitely be a good idea to look into the specific onstacles u had to overcome in the dream.

but dont worry. this is common. its just telling u to pay attention to the dream. it might help u in the longrun =]

  2. Oh, yes, I certainly HAVE dreamed I was awake.

Whenever I have a nested series of dreams like that, they usually concern getting up late and being late for work.

In one such series, I kept dreaming of waking up to different bizarre situations.  In one, there was a large, ugly bug sitting on the alarm clock and fiercely defending it from any attempt on my part ot touch it.  then my next false wake-up involved wandering out into the living-room and finding Christmas ornaments hanging from the ceiling all over the room (and that occurred in August!).

I recall another such series where I kept getting up, getting ready for work and then getting lost trying to find my way to the jobsite.  Each time it was different - once I got on a wrong bus, another false wake-up involved riding a bicycle that turned into something else, etc.

I don't experience this very often, but I have expereinced it several times.

By the way, that pinching one's self thing never worked for me.  In fact, whenever I am having a really pleasant dream and want to reassure myself that it's real and not just a dream, I find myself picking up solid objects and feeling the pressure of them against the palm of my hand, and I tell myself "Okay, I can FEEL this, so it's REAL, and NOT a dream."  But it always IS a dream and I always DO wake up, nonetheless!

  3. an accute form of surreal dreaming.  this one is most extreme, which is screaming of how important it is.  I respect that you did not ellaborate on what happened, but dig this:

dreams are often your spirit or subconscience lets say for the agnostic, communicating with you.  It may be other spirit forms but usully it's just you communication with you.

write the dream down as soon as you can.  also keep a recording device near by your sleeping place.  Pen & paper will do fine.  As soon as you wake plan to record the dream. visualize doing this as you drift off to sleep.  this is a "wake-up" call to your spirit, letting you know that you are listening and feel that what is dreampt is important

  4. You may be falling into a two level of dreaming. It happens if your subconscious mind didn't get passed the first level of dreaming and so it creates another level.

That actually means deep down you are feeling the need of assurance. Projecting yourself in two level of dreaming symbolize uncertainty in you.    This happens when we feel indecisive in waking life. And somehow we vent out this way in dream.

  5. How do you know that you aren't dreaming that you were dreaming you were awake?
