Can you file your teeth down whith a nail file????

i was just wonerind cuz i have really big buck teeth and i was just wondering if i could do that?????

It ruins the enamel have your dentist do it cause it really hurts and makes your teeth prone to cavities otherwise. It will work but with hurt your teeth only the dentist can do it safely

I really wouldn't. Your teeth are sensitive, and a nail file is meant for nails, not teeth. If you want to fix your teeth, see your dentist or orthodontist. Doing a risky at-home procedure really isn't a good idea. When someone has braces, and they have to take off the brackets, the orthodontist has to sand your teeth, or when they scrape all the brace glue off your teeth. You have to use a painful combination of a grinding against your teeth, along with cold air blowing on them. Using a nail file against your teeth would be like a cheap, extremely painful sanding. Your teeth have nerves, like said above, and your teeth might turn out worse than before, or ruin your enamel.

you could, but you'll hit the hallow part of your tooth and hurt yourself. my orthodontist wanted to file one of my front teeth down, but he said he couldn't or i would be in pain forever.

NO!!! You will strip your teeth of the enamel which will make them look yellow,and you dont know how deep your roots are so you could end up with tooth pain.

Yes , but it should be done by a professional. you could end up filing too much , on the other hand the dentist knows how to do it without causing damage to the tooth.

Yes, you can do that, but you would damage the structure of your teeth. There are nerves right in the center of each tooth. You may file down and find that you want a dentist right away. Once you damage a tooth like that, you can't get it repaired. So I don't think I would do that. However, there are some things that you can ask the dentist to do for you, or there certain teeth aids you can buy over the counter. Sp please reconsider and don't do that to your teeth. You will thank me later.

NO NO NO! It would wear off all your enamel, and it would be seriously painful!. If you're having a problem with your teeth, go to the dentist and maybe they can use the grinder.

dont do that! that would be silly and you could mess up your teeth very badly. if you go to the dentist for a simple cleaning, cavity filling etc-the dentist will file your teeth for free. its takes them seconds literally! do not take the chance of messing up your teeth-youll regret it for the rest of your life..

Oh please don't.  You could ruin the enamel on your teeth and have a really bad reaction hot/cold items.  It could turn out really bad and painful for you.  If it's a matter of not being able to afford a dentist, you should look into your local insurance for low income families.  Good luck.

It would work with a lot of filing and could cause lots of pain if you hit a nerve in your tooth and also it may cause serious dental problems later on in life. Why not try talking to your dentist for advice on what to do about it? I'm sure he/she will be able to help you without you causing any damage to your teeth.

That would hurt really bad. You have nerves in your teeth...thats kinda why the denists gives you a shot before he fills your cavity.
