That is to say, you don't have to clean any gunk out or not put in diesel while there is still some oil in there?

  1. Please don't do this if you want to keep your car working.  The fueling system and engine of your car were likely not designed to work with vegetable oil.  Save yourself a lot of money and don't do it.

Of course, if you with to be good to mother earth, there is an easy way to burn excess fats without putting them in your car.  You can walk or ride a bike.  These will burn the fat that you already have in your body and save you the cost of diet books that don't work.

It will greatly increase your probability of living  a long and healthy life.

  2. Diesels alone may be able to use cooking oil.

But if you try to run a diesel designed for #2 diesel fuel on #1 diesel, you may get a demonstration of just how finnicky diesels can be about the quality of fuel they burn.

Clearly one would want to filter the oils very well, and leave it standing for months to let water settle out, or blend sith ethanol to keep the water from clumping together.

It would be expedient instead of using this fuel directly if petroleum refineries would buy it to be used as a form of crude oil, blending it into the final diesel fuel.

  3. yes it works but only with extra virgin olive oil, which can be purchased at your local trader joes.

  4. No, only vehicles that run on a certain grade of diesel will be able to use it.  I have a diesel and don't want to run it because it will still cause me to worry.  You have to refine it yourself to lower the viscosity to get it able to atomize.  Its a good idea but I feel the technology still lacks in the area which makes it a pain to collect the oil, refine it, and get it right.  I don't think it is to the point where I would do it because all the time I would have to put into making it wouldn't offset the cost enough to stop filling up at the truck stop.

  5. If you fill the car with oil, where will you sit? it will spill everywhere when you open the door.

why would I want to put cooking oil in my electric car, unless I'm going camping. http://www.batteryvehiclesociety.org.uk/...

  6. Any car? No. You need a diesel and you need to install a conversion kit that adds a separate fuel tank and fuel lines for the grease. You also can't use straight cooking oil. The oil needs to be filtered and heated to remove particulates and excess water. Check out http://www.greasecar.com/ for conversion kit information. One of my friends has a converted VW Jetta and it runs great.

  7. h**l no , it wont work anymore
