Can you find divorce decrees on line, even if they're in another state and took place in the 70's?

I understand a divorce decree is public information. But, would they be on record that long ago? I would like to know more about my husband's past. His ex died a few years after we married....

  1. probably not, you would need to contact the clerk of courts wherever it was filed.


  2. Probably not, computer systems have changed a lot since then and it just depends if the county spent the time and effort to try to convert the original files.  Your best bet is to  contact the specific courthouse. They will mail you a copy for a fee
