Question:

Can you find me any websites that help prove global warming is not our fault?

Hello!: You really need to learn some manners! Just because a majority of people think global warming is our fault doesn't mean it IS true! Plus, if you have to know, I need to do this for a research assignment. Also, I'm not sure whether or not it is our fault. But regardless, I know it's real and I am NOT stupid. So don't treat me like I am.

  1. with "our", do you mean America's?

caouse if you do, well, good luck with that.

but besides, its not only US' fault,

    its literally everybody's.

  2. Sure here are some sites along with a summary of the ideas.

There is currently no evidence that man has made any significant contribution to climate change.

    Some interesting facts.

    1. During most of the past 2,000 years, the temp has been about the same or higher. Currently, we are barely over the average for the last 2,000 years.

    2. During the medieval warm period (820 – 1040 AD), Greenland supported farming. Those areas previously farmed are now covered in glaciers. Obviously the melting and reformation of glaciers is a cyclical occurrence.

    3. The earth experienced a little ice age which ended around the late 1860's or so. This is about the time man started recording temperatures. This would be like measuring a lake depth after a severe drought, then worrying about it flooding as it rose to normal levels.

    4. The earth has been warming for the last 10,000 years, since the last major glacier time period. Also, for most of the last 1 billion years, the earth had NO glaciers or ice coverage.

    5. The AGW theory states that CO2 is the primary driver of temperature. They arrived at this idea because they did not know of anything else which could cause it. But during the 70's and during the current decade, temperatures dropped while CO2 continued to rise. This means that natural occurrences are driving temp, not CO2.

    6. The Pacific Decadal Oscillation and sun spots provides a much better correlation to earths' temperature than CO2 levels ever have.

    7. Polar Bears are experiencing a population boom. Coke sales in the arctics are through the roof. Polar Bears have been around for thousands of years, and remember, we are only at the average for the last 2,000 years. They lived through all the previously warmer climates.

    8. The glaciers have been melting now for over 10,000 years. the current rate of melting is similar to previous melting.

    9. There is no consensus on AGW. This was a lie that has been propagated by the media.

    10. Yes we emit CO2 into the atmosphere and it is a greenhouse gas, but, we only contribute about .28% of all the greenhouse effect. Water vapor makes up about 95% of the greenhouse effect. CO2 and other trace gases round out the greenhouse gases at about 5% for all of them. Of that 5%, only 3% is CO2, and most of that is natural. Again, our contribution to the greenhouse effect is a paltry .28%

    11. The spread of disease is not attributed mainly to temperature. If this were the case, Florida would be a giant festering disease ridden cesspool. Economic standing is the primary determining factor in the spread of disease. Poor cultures can not fight the disease or eradicate the pests like more successful nations.

    12. Natural climate disasters (hurricanes, cyclones, etc) have never been scientifically linked to global warming (whether natural or man made).

  3. So far you have been offered exactly one site that shows what you are looking for.  But when you look at that site you will see that its references are 10 years old -- they do not reflect the intense reseach that has been performed over the last decade.

You simply will not find a credible source with current information that does not conclude that it is very likely that humans are causing the warming.  If you really want to prove that there is some uncertaintly, you can quote the 2007 IPCC's report that we are more than 90% certain -- meaning there is some small chance that we are not the cause.  Certainty is was much higher in 2007 than in the 2001 report, which was only 66%+ certain.  The difference is in the measurements and increases in the years between the reports.

Oh, I see CazyConservative chipped in with a bunch more as I was writing.  Again, note that the research he's sending you to are old data -- prior even to the 2001 report; they reflect none of the measure and reseach that's happened in the last 7 years.  If your source these for a school project you will look pretty silly.  You better find up to date sources.

As an asside, interesting the CrazyConservative is so at odds with the Bush's adminstration summary issued this week which is in agreement with the IPCC's conclusions.

  4. Sometimes you can sift through NASA,NOAA,WHOL or even the IPCC web sites and find inconclusive studies and modeling techniques. But it's usually topic specific. Here's a few I ran across by random.

  5. You can find a website that will tell you almost anything that you want to know. There is a lot of misinformation on the Internet (especially on the topic of global warming) and you should’t trust everything that you read.

For credible information, check out the following websites:

    For beginners:

  6. Global Warming has been occuring since the ice age.

Glaciers covered almost all of North America at one time.

There is nothing humans are or have done to cause it.

I find it facinating that we as humans have to feel that we will leave some impact on the earth, simply because we are here.

Its a hard reality that many are not willing to accept - the fact that in 500 years, our life will have such a miniscule impact on anything, long forgotten and recorded no-where.

  8. You can project any answer you want upon any topic of your choice. The line between subjective and objective become blurred.

I believe if you still you mind and let go of any attachments you may be holding on to most generalities to answers will intuitively become apparent.

From there if you chose you can work out any details that may help the world become a better place. This is what I believe we have been placed upon this earth to do. If we listen to this inner purpose we can find satisfaction we never knew by solely living to fulfill our materialistic desires.

    Peace and Blessings : )

  9. Why bother ? if you go by a "battle of the web sites" all you will do is confuse yourself. Take what has happened in the real world, not someone's weather or laboratory model.

Pollution of water and air has remarkably decreased in the past decades, the poar bear isn't drowning...its population has more than doubled since the 70's, If the "greenhouse" effect was killing the planet by nasty co2 or water vapor or human activity...then why did the temperature of the planet drop 1/2 a degree in 2007 and plateau from 1998 ? The real reason was .....duh....the sun spot activity of the sun went down. Temperture should have just kept rising according to the alarmist if they were right.

Going back over 100 years of media coverage we were heading toward a mini ice age in the 70's.

America's industrialization was increasing from 1945 to the 70's, yet temperature was decreasing..not rising.

All this is fact, yet the alarmists sit there and lie through their teeth....and why ? stubborn ? bought into something wrong and can't afford to shatter their credibility ? Most like Al Gore are simply raking in tons of money on the issue.

If you live in a bubble...or a laboratory...ya, you'll be fooled by the global warming hoax. But compared to real life, it just doesn't hold water.

  10. uhh NO. Because it is our FAULT. If you are writing a paper about that I advise you to switch your topic...or have some pretty dang good research. Which you prbly will not find because we are the ones to blame for global warming.

  11. www.climateaudit.org

  12. Umm well, I'd love to help you, but there really aren't any credible sites. I mean, there are right wing blogs and the like, and I'm sure you can find some nice Fox News online articles and some Boston Globe op-eds and such, but from true climatologists you'll find little to no information. Sorry. Run through the posts of skeptics on this forum and you'll see they almost never provide a source--ironic, huh, or maybe not. They usually just attack the AGW theory via ad hominem arguments against the scientists forming the theory, contextomy, straw mans, and the notorious "you're stupid!" comments.

Allow your answerers to prove my point ;)

edit: Hiram: look at that petition a little closer. ANYONE with a BS degree (undergraduate degree) in ANY scientific field, whether it relates to climatology or not, was allowed to sign that petition. And if you look ever closer only 2.9% of the signers held a degree that related in some way to climatology, and that 2.9% comprises less than 1% of climatologists worldwide--certainly no "consensus."

  13. NO!!!!

BECAUSE GLOBAL WARMING IS OUR FAULT YOU DUMBA**!!!!!

  14. As you mention there are no web sites which prove that global warming is not our fault, but here is a list of organizations that ExxonMobil has funded:

    http://www.exxonsecrets.org/html/listorg...

Don't expect any proof, or even any scientifically accurate information, but you go to those organizations' web sites you will at least find a lot of entertaining claims.
