Can you find out the number to a land line phone, by picking it up and entering a code?

Instead of calling someone who has caller I.D.

Or could the operator tell you, the number to the phone you are using?

    The answer is yes, but you would need to be an employee of the phone company to know the code.

    When new phones are installed, the phone company employee dials a code number to see if the correct phone line has been connected. The recording he gets tells him what number he's at.

    The operator will not be able to tell you.

  6. Yes there is a code. The problem is that it varies by the provider and even by the area the provider is in. Where I am located, the code is 9912. Other nearby areas is 9912222222. Ask your local phone guy, he my give it to you.
