Question:

Can you find out the s*x this early?

I'm going in for an ultrasound next week. I will be 13 weeks 2 days (or in my 14th week of pregnancy) when I go. I was wondering if there is any chance that they will be able to see the s*x of the baby if s/he is being cooperative?

I found this website to lead me to believe that there is a chance I will be able to. The machines at the ultrasound place are very good as well. http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/102520656/abstract

Thanks for your opinions/advice/experience.

  1. if u've got private health insurane and your paying then the docs will be happy to have a look BUT its not likely they will  be able to see yet.

i'd recomend a 3d scan, yes u will prob know the s*x of r baby by then but it is great and u get to see ur babys face very clear. fantastic but it does cost ££

  2. you normally cannot tell the s*x of the baby until around 19-22 weeks

  3. most likely no, because the fetus isn't fully developed.

  4. You'll be setting yourself up for disappointment! I tried to find out at 14 weeks, with my 3rd child, and we thought it was a boy (even the tech!), but---at 19 weeks---we discovered he was definitely a she, and we'd only seen the cord... Too much room for error, that early.

16+ weeks, is much more likely, as long as baby cooperates. :)

  5. Sometimes, but even the best ultrasound places are hesitant to give opinions this early.  Usually if they can tell, it's because it's a boy but even that can be wrong this early.

  6. not sure but ill be watching this answer, im going in on tue for a 13 wk and that would be cool ,although i dont think very likely

  7. I found out at 13 weeks

  8. I had a level II ultrasound (those are done on high powered machines) and they couldn't tell boy/girl at 13 weeks. I'm having a boy and usually they are the easiest to tell.

    I found out at 18w4d.

My doctor said the earliest they can tell is 16 weeks with a REASONABLE degree of certainty.

  9. When I had my first ultrasound with my second daughter, they told me that if it was a boy that they could probably tell that early (14 wks) but if it was a girl they couldn't because the boys s*x organs are easier to see.

  10. I don't think the baby's genitals will be fully formed at that time to be able to tell. My ob/gyn's always say anywhere from 17-24 wks is the best time to find out the s*x b/c then it's developed enough and big enough to make an educated decision.

  11. It's possible but I wouldn't rely on it too much that early on. We found out with twins at 16 weeks and it was very obvious both were boys. With my 1st they were wrong at 20wks though..

  12. It's not very likely. If you were maybe 15-16 weeks they probably could, but most times the anatomy ultrasound isn't until around 18 weeks.

  13. hm... hopefully. I know my friend found out the s*x of her baby around the same amount of weeks you'll be. Hopefully! Good Luck!

  14. no you will probably have another u/s around 18-20, the anatomy is very small at 13/14 weeks, usually they do one later on
