This probably is better asked in a genealogy forum, but I don't believe adoptions were formal in 1873 so there probably isn't an "adoption paper"; I think families just took kids in when needed without legal proceedings or documentation. More formalized adoption processes didn't really come about until around WWII from my reading on the subject.
