  1. It is only illegal if you do not kill them. It is illegal to return them to the water alive. They can live out of water for a long time so it is best to cut them with a knife. This is an invasive species that the DNR is working to control.

I don't think its illegal cos the fish isn't yours,u just fish them right.There two types the small n the giant snake heads,these r really powerful freshwater fish,they will fight like crazy when they got hook.Their fighting style is barbaric,when they take your lure/bait they just dive n dive for cover,they have tremendous power for fish of that size.they taste good for the small species but the big ones r not that tasty.When u fight,remember to let it run but don't let it go into anywhere which result in a snag,usually its the first run that chances r u gonna loose that fish,after that its the snagging part.Once up at upper water column don't think its over,they do often take a second run when they see u but this depend on the size of that fish,if its a15 pounder or more it's a good chance it'll have the power for more action.

  3.   You can fish for them.  The only thing illegal is to possess live snakeheads.
