I can get a bike for free but I am pretty sure that it is only a 24" and I stand at 6'3" so I am pretty sure I need a 26" wheel, any ideas, if i can fit a 26" wheel on there what kind of modifications do I need to make to the bike itself?

  1. It is the combination of both wheel size and frame size that makes a bike fit a rider.  Most bikes with 24" wheels are designed for kids.  Thus, even if you could put a 26" wheel on this machine, it isn't likely to fit you.

That said, there is no practical way to put 26" wheels on a frame designed for 24" wheels.  You could get a fork designed for a 26" wheel and put it on the front of the bike.  The position of the brakes will prevent you from putting a 26" wheel on the back.  A 26" wheel on the front will change the geometry, and thus the handling of the bike, but do nothing for increasing the size of the frame.

My suggestion is to go looking for a bike that fits you.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Chance of it working 99.99% no.

Like already stated, the rest of the bike would be way too small for you anyway. Bad idea.

  3. nope

  4. Maybe if you over pump the tire (the tire would only increase in width) but that can be very dangerous and may not work out so well in the get go.
