Unlike other lizards that have difficulty digesting plants, the iguana feeds on fruit,flowers,and leaves. Since iguanas are used to high temperatures pets must be provided with a heated lamp or rock at all times. Many people have enjoyed this unusual pet however, as a result of their capture for the pet trade iguanas are in danger of extinction in many places.
