Can you fix your sugar glider?

Hi, my friend has a male sugar glider she needs fixed but to get to a proper vet she would have to fly over seas, she cant afford that.

I have red that you can do it yourself by tieing a piece of thread or dental floss around the top of the scrotal sac, after 7-11 days the sac will simply rot and fall off. Is this true?

Would it be bad for her to attempt to neuter her sugar glider herself? She dosent want her gliders to in breed (she has a brother sister pair)

What are the risk if they in breed? Could there be something wrong with the joey(s)?

I have two gliders myself and I don't want to try it but she cant afford flying over seas, the vet in her area will not do it.

  1. ok you DO NOT have to fly over seas to have a vet fix sugar gliders - you need to just find the right one - you need to call different exotic vets within 200 or so miles, you'll find one - if you want, let me know where you live and I can help you find one

DO NOT do it yourself - first off, this will be very painful for them, and it is WRONG - separate them if you need to

  2. That does not sound like a good idea at all. Please don't attempt this. Imagine if you tied something around any part of your body so tight that that part fell off, I believe there would be some serious problems.

Inbreeding is not a good idea and there can be defects and complications. Can she possibly keep them in separate cages?

I think even properly having them neutered is risky.
