Chihuahua!!!......but of course, you can 'fly fish' anywhere you like in San Angelo

....i practice in ponds, lakes, rivers and San Angelo has 2 rivers just in town, plus many other lake and river type opportunities nearby

.....personally, i have caught bass using my fly rod, just a matter of timing their food slection process

....try a heavy  split shot above a 4/0 or 5/0 hook  with a white grub (we're not talkin' salmon fly here are we....lol)....or a nice green grasshopper....bass eat them up....if the hook is smaller, even perch will hit the smaller green grasshoppers...and are really fun on fly rods!!!

.....some lakes also stock trout, and they too will hit top water flies

....you may have some 'flies' that are submersible and provide a unique perspective on setting a hook when the fish 'arrives'

....but it all great practice

...i always bring along my spinning rig to use when the situation warrants

....like a good 'Boy Scout' I am always prepared...to offer up the right bait and tackle to bring home some food
