Can you format a memory card into 2 partitions?

I have a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, and I love it, except the memory card. I bought it on e-bay. It's works on my laptop, which can see it just fine. However, when I put it in the Nokia, it doesn't exist.

I think it might be too big to be recognized (is that even possible)? And I've tried searching on the web about this, but no luck.

If you go on a Nokia forum you should be able to find a sdhc hack to make the card work. You could easily partition a card but even that sometimes does not fully work.
