Can you freeze dairy milk??

If you freeze a gallon of milk, and let it thaw out in the fridge, will it taste weird? Have you ever done this?

i freeze 2% or 1% milk all the time.  you have to shake it after it defrosts since is the fat separates a little, but the taste of the milk is fine.

YES ALTHOUGH IT TASTE KINDA WATERY IF ITS STILL ICEY WHEN U DRINK IT. BUT YEAH U CAN ONCE THE ICE MELTS IT TASTE EXTRA GUD B/C ITS SO COLD

I do this with Coffee Mate and it is fine, but never tried with plain milk.

yes -mind the expiration date after it thaws.  leave some space in the container you use for freezing cuz it will expand.

I grew up with my family doing this. It doesn't taste weird. If you make sure to shake it before you use it, it even looks the same as before you froze it.

I know a lot of people who do this now when they are going on vacation, got a good deal on milk and need to store it, or just simply don't use much milk.

There is no problem doing this.

Yes, you can freeze milk and it will taste fine. When I married my first wife a long time ago (she died when she was 24) and we didn't have a lot of money, milk would sometime be on sale for 35, 40 cents a gallon. We would buy 10, 15 or 20 gallon and put it in the deep freeze. When we thawed it out, you couldn't tell it from fresh.

i've frozen milk before and it doesnt taste any different after it thaws. just thaw it in the fridge and make sure you shake it up before you open it just to make sure no ice settles,

yes. it was perfectly fine, though a bit watered down. so i would recommend doing it with the least diluted of milks, whole. unless of course you dont mind the watery taste!

Weird I have a half gallon of milk in our freezer (our bottom if our fridge broke ) *goes to fridge * yeah it looks yellowish and really icy . I read somewhere that you can freeze it so I am sure if your fridge is real high in temp it can work I don't think its a good idea to double freeze dairy so make sure your going to us the amount you defrosted . Maybe try using powder milk its super cheap and kinda gross but good substitute when there is no milk in the house I guess . And your kids won't write a book when they get older how they nearly starved to death bc mom had to always defrost the milk so they could eat breakfast,,Lol jk  *goes to throw out her frozen milk * . My grandmother freezes her gallons of milk.  I am not sure why exactly but I never could taste the difference.  It takes awhile to thaw out.

my mom used to do this and didn't think it was bad. I wouldn't drink it cause I was a snob when I was little. she loved it and thought it was pretty economical. I would try it, it may taste a little diluted from the ice, but should be ok.

We used to freeze milk all the time when we were kids. There is no taste difference, only in your mind. I used to freeze my daughters lunch milk because I was always afraid of it sitting out. Not knowing if they put it in the refrigerator right away. I drove a school bus & in between routes I worked in the school cafeteria, so I bought the milk there, and froze it. I t was easy & convenient to freeze & put in her lunch for daycare.

I think it will become scummy, or it might separate, leaving curds. I am not totally sure though, but I have heard that you shouldn't freeze milk.

We buy our milk at Sam's or Costco, so we buy in bulk and freeze until we need it.  It works the best with fat free milk, but with the others, let your milk thaw completely and then give it a couple of good shakes.
