Can you get CHEAP tickets to Broadway shows through TKTS booth? ?

I know you can get discounted tickets at the TKTS booth. Do they have different price tickets for the same show? I am wondering if I can get balcony seats for less there or is it usually the higher priced areas just discounted? I would be looking to go to a Saturday matinee for shows that are typically listed on the sign, but looking to pay @ $30-$40. Thanks!

it all depends on what the theater sends over that day. some times its the best seats some times its the cheap seats.

"Cheap" is a relative term - tickets at the TKTS booth are usually about half price.

another idea would be to go to an off-broadway show- just as good, but a LOT cheaper

The tickets are sold for 1/2 the regular price.  Most people want the best seat available, but ask for the cheapest seat available and it will probably be in your price range. The chance of getting a cheaper seat is greater because most people want the goods ones so they sell out, and none are available for sale at 1/2 price.

FYI - they only accept cash.
