I am informed that it is no longer available Over The Counter, due to a small percentage of people foolishly taking it with other medication, which it can interfere with. If that is the cause, there is no reason why a doctor can't prescribe it, as is done in Germany, where it is the standard treatment for depression, except where other medications are being taken, which it might interfere with. Doctors would also be able to advise their patients to discontine use some time prior to any surgery, until after healed, due to its thinning (anticoagulant) properties. I strongly suspect that the pharmaceutical manufacturers have lobbied to get such a withdrawal from general sales, to clear the way for even more billions of $ of sales of their products. Fortunately, it is still readily avaliable in many other parts of the world, including where I live, and the wort even grows wild, so I'll be getting some seeds, and growing my own. You could try this, too, if interested.
