Can you get a DUI for drinking too much coffee or energy drinks?

I drink at least 4 or 5 espresso drinks a day. Sometimes I get kinda jittery and drive bad. I know you can get arrested for driving on cough medicine but can you get busted for having a caffeine buz . . ?

Coffee or caffeine drinks will not trip a breathalizer test,   and there is no law against driving with a caffeine buzz.    You can still be cited for any other offense you commit,  and if the officer suspects you are under the influence of something other than alcohol,   possibly taken in for suspicion of until they get it figured out.

If you know it makes you jittery and drive bad,  you are purposefully jeopardizing the safety of others by drinking these and then driving.   That in itself is irresponsible and can make you liable for any accident.

no, but you can get a ticket for speeding on a bicycle, so stay off your bike after that much caffeine

If not, you should. Caffiene is obviously a mind altering substance. I'm apalled that chidren are allowed to buy hypercafeinated drinks like Mountain Dew. Like alcohol and cigarettes, these potentially dangerous drugs (legal or not, they are certainly drugs) shouldn't be sold to kids like candy bars.

caffeine is legal. they would find another charge if you were so impaired you couldn't operate your car properly.

I don't think the policeman's device for measuring alcohol levels will hit the mark! It's highly unlikely, however, he may give you a high-priced ticket for your horrendous driving.

You have to pass a coffee breathalizer otherwise they lock you up, send you to coffaholics anonymous, and make you pick up dog p**p on sidewalks for community service.
