Can you get a birthmark cut off?

I have a birthmark about the size of a dime, and would much rather have a straight scar or something than the birthmark, which is discolored. (I already have a scar going through it so Id like to just have it removed and replace the scar on the birthmark with just a scar) Do I go to a dermatologist? Or a surgeon? Who would I speak with to see if this is a possibility?

  1. Dermatologist. Most birthmarks are removable, though some (port wine stains) can't be removed.

  2. A dermatologist can either remove the birthmark or refer you to a plastic surgeon who could do it. Otherwise, try covering it with Dermablend concealer. It is designed to cover birthmarks and even tattoos!! : )
