  1. It really depends where you look. Some dealers will have them on the lots and ready to buy. The Prius on the other hand, people are buying them before the dealer even gets the shipment. Also, people are paying up to $2,000 over sticker to buy them! The Civic you may be able to get a couple hundred off the sticker, but not much. Hybrids are hot right now, they will continue on this trend if gas is rising like it is now.

    Also, I would recommend a diesel. The VW's can manage around 50 MPG, and usually the body falls apart before the engine. If you wait for a couple of months, the new VW Jetta TDi will be coming out.  Diesels can hold their resale value very well too.

    diesel engines last twice as long as gas engines do so a 3 year old with 50,000 miles is just getting broken in.

    No tune-ups like gas engines have, no O2 sensors (at $280 each) to replace. no timing belt (diesels are built better than timing belts)
