Can you get a english saddle trimed?

Question

i just got a saddle off or ebay and it is too long for my legs so i was wondering if you can get it trimmed to fit my legs....

all answers exceptable!

It is possible, but I don't know that I would do that.  If it's a dressage saddle, for example, the flaps are meant to be long.  Who's the maker, is it a dressage saddle, and when was it made?  How is it too long for your legs- do your feet not come past the ends of the flaps, and if they don't, how many inches are there in between?  Also take your age into consideration- you could be thirty or ten, I have no way of knowing- so if you're still growing your saddle will probably be in the desired proportion to your legs before long.

If in doubt, though, take it to a professional saddler and see what they recommend.
