And if so does anyone know approximately how much it would cost?

Also any suggestions on how we would get our belongings (furniture and what not) over there( My father said by the ferry, I'm not quite sure about this?) 'cause we come across a few international moving companies and they have been over $3,000 which is abit expensive due to us about to have a baby. Thanks!

  1. a ferry ? No. Some inter-country company will offer a wholesale move. Check your local listings.

  2. there is no trans-atlantic ferry to my knowledge.  The international movers would be your only option I think for bulky items.  You'll have to be very choosy about what you bring and if its worth the shipping costs.  Family heirlooms and treasured items for sure but beds, tables that sort of thing probably cheaper to have a "garage sale" there before you leave and then pick up some second hand stuff or new items on arrival here.

Here's a blog from someone who's done the trip http://www.escapeartist.com/efam17/Brits...

hope you have a great trip over and do well on your great adventure.  Best of luck to you and your family.

  3. Ferry? No. It's a ship and it is a luxury item. Check out air fares. You can have your belongings shipped in containers but that could take a month or more.

  4. There is no ferry.  I don't even think there is a cruise ship that goes direct from Canada to the UK (all departures are US-based).

You can send your belongings via a container.  A company drops off a container at your house.  You fill it up.  Truck picks it up and delivers it either to a train or straight to the shippng yard.  It goes to the UK.  A truck picks it up and delivers it to your house.  You unload it.

$3000 is extremely cheap for an international move. If you can't afford that, then you need to take another look at your options. Personally, I would not move my furniture unless my company was reimbursing me for the move.  Put your items in storage and rent a furnished flat or get some cheap furniture in the UK.  Of course, that's assuming that this is a temporary move -- I suppose if you are moving to the UK permanently, then you will want all of your stuff.

  5. There is definately NO ferry to Canada from the UK - however, there are passenger ships and there is freight and cargo ships.  There may even be cargo ships that you can load your furniture and accompany it.  You would have to check out:

We have known many people that moved from Britain to Canada - most left their main furniture and bought in Canada.  You can "rent to own", you can get used things almost in any large city, there are Value Villages that offer discounted things, and IKEA in most large cities offer a variety of different solutions that are reasonable and very nice looking.

    Hope this helps some.
