I'm not an old man , I'm in highschool and I'm a healthy guy, I'm not fat. I ran cross country and track so I do a lot of distance.

For a week I didn't run and I ate pizza and drank soda and when I start running again my heart hurts, does it mean I'm about to have a heart attack? I stopped eating the junk food for a few days and I feel fine when I run. Heart attack? SOmething else?

  1. could be the pain arises from working areas that haven't been worked.  running and using an exercise room and routine actually tend to flush out your veins and gets rid of garbage.  If you're concerned, take a little pocket notepad with you and document how long you worked, how you feel, where and when the pain starts, and any rhythm problems.

If, after a couple of weeks, you're still being bothered, have a cardiologist check you out. How?  by running on a tread mill and using ultrasound to watch your heart at work.  simple, and a good screening process.  Plus, you'll get good and right information, instead of just conjecture.

as for heart attacks, they usually arise during rest or sleep phases.  There are a lot of muscles in the chest area that can mimic a heart attack, though for most undergoing a real one (males) you get these rather sharp stabbing or campy pains in the the upper left arm, start sweating like summer in florida, and your chest feels as if there's a piano or horse parked on top, on one leg.  Some people also feel indigestion and rhythm disturbances.

as for eating junk food, hey, humans can eat almost anything and get something nutritional from it,  just eat stuff in moderation, more fruits and vegetables, soup, meat in the morning or early afternoon, and non-carbonated drinks.

anything in the heart can be fixed.

  2. no its prolly just that ur heart wasnt used to being worked so hard because u didnt excersize for that whole week. the food probaly just maybe u gain a few pounds but i doubt it has anything to do with ur heart. but if u were to eat it everyday then it would start to be bad for you.  and no u wont have a heart attack unless u have like a family history of heart failures or something. but if ur young then i wouldnt worry. =]

  3. You might have just not been used to the exercise and good food after that week. Maybe? Your best bet might be to ask your doctor (if you have enough money to do so).
