Can you get a hotter signal on your pickups if you adjust them closer to the strings?

Hi Bman

The pickups job is to pick up the vibration of the string. If you raise the pickups closer to the strings, it will be more responsive. Don't forget that you cannot put them closer than 1/8".

The magnets of the pickup will pull the string and cause the intonation to be slightly off or you may experience problems tuning on pitch. The magnets are pretty powerful and tend ot pull the string towards them.

Some think that it is useless but that is because, they don't know the subject. Take a screwdriver and put it near your pickups and watch how powerful these magnets are.
