Can you get a law degree in the United States and then practice in the Caribbean?

I'm planning to attend college in the states, but I use to live in the caribbean, so i was wondering if i got a law degree here if i could go back to the caribbean and practice, or if i have to get my degree in the caribbean to practice there.

  1. You can get your degree anywhere you want.  You will have to get your license to practice according to Caribbean law.


  2. It probably depends on where you go in the Carribean.

    US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico - very likely a US law degree  would work there.

    Netherlands Antilles - St. Maarten - unlikely, since they are likely more like European/Dutch law.

    Bahamas - probably like the UK.

    The northern half of St. Martin - probably like France.

    Contact the attorney licensing department at the Islands of your choice.
