Can you get a remote microphone that will plug into a hot shoe on a camcorder.?

Sony used to make a converter for the AIS - BHphotovideo.com was the only US retailer carrying it - It has been discontinued for almost a year. I looked on eBay and did not see any there... I think the part number was VKC100.

Otherwise, you are stuck with the proprietary Sony mics that required the Sony proprietary AIS if you camcorder does not have a normal mic-in jack.

Your new Sony HandyCam has a model number - if you got to the Camcorders area at Sony.com and do a lookup on accessories for your camcorder, you'll see what mics will work with that AIS.
