Believe me, i'm far from being a good student. But that doesn't mean I don't want to go to a full 4 year college. I just can't afford it. Are there scholarships out there for people that aren't perfect but still try?!

  1. You can try to go to

    http://all-about-scholarship.com

    it's about scholarships information.

    Good luck

  2. try sports!

  3. I will just share my personal experiencei had a 4.02 GPA, 27ACT, double digits in school activities, and over 100 hours of community service, and 5s on AP EURO and US history so i can write an essay.   I applied for over 30 independent scholarships and spent countless hours doing so because everyone told me " there are so many out there just apply and you will get them".  WRONG i got 2 that won't even pay for a meal plan and books and i regret the countless hours i wasted i should have gotten a 2nd job lol. so in my opinion its a lot of political bullshit and a lot is need based(my mom is a single parent schoolteacher who makes about 40k a year and doesn't save well so a college fund never existed).  Just my experience i hate to be gloom

  4. There are tons of scholarships and grants out there.  Especially if your parents are low income or you are a minority.  Many local businesses and stores offer scholarships as well.  Some for interning with them others for working for them.  I work for Marriott and they offer a tuition reimbursement program.  It never hurts to apply for scholarships.  I got one through our church also.  Just go to the college or ask a school counselor how to apply and they will give you the info you need.  And remember, volunteering in the community looks great on scholarships.  So if you still have time, you should try that.

  5. Definitely. Try Fastweb.com, it'll help you find scholarships that look at more than just your grades. Also check with your high school and ask a counselor to help you find some.

  6. Sure, there are lots of scholarships available. http://www.ReviewScholarships.com has a listing of some.

But it's possible that even getting several scholarships won't be enough to pay for a full 4 year college. You should consider looking into a federal student loan. Start by completing the fasfa at http://fasfa.ed.gov and while you wait to hear back from them check sites like http://www.StudentLoanConsultants.com for a lender comparison to compare different rates and fees.

  7. yes you can. i did. i had a pretty low gpa when I graduated but i got good sat's and i wrote a killer essay.

grades are just one element. find a college or program in a college that you really feel suits what you are interested in. write an essay that helps them to fall in love with you for who you are. (don't bother making excuses for your grades--leave that topic alone and talk about your strong interests and character, etc.)

also apply to a bunch of places, i didnt end up getting into some of the schools i most watned--but then i got into a much higher ranked school i hadn;t been foccused on because of a speficic good match, so just try lots of places. cast a big net -as they say. to better your chances.

the answer is yes. good luck.

  8. Yes there are.

A lot of local scholarships have very specific requirements, like being a certain ethnic background, or having a parent in a certain industry, or being involved in rodeos, etc. You just have to look through all the scholarships in your school's college prep area and see if you qualify for any. Also, a lot of scholarships are awarded based on the essay that you submit, more so than your grades.
