  1. Since the neutral is connected to the ground in residential circuits, you cannot get a shock from a neutral wire.

The bare wire is connected directly to the neutral, and you don't get a shock from the bare wire, right?

  2. Technically in home wiring you shouldn't get shocked touching the neutral wire, some industrial wiring uses a high or low resistance neutral which allows for ground detection equip to function without tripping vital equipment, in this scenario you would get shocked.

In home wiring, being that the neutral is considered the current carrying ground and it should be bonded to ground in your panel (Bonding is required by Code), current seeks the easiest path to ground, now if your wet and/or standing in a puddle you may become that path. Now if you get in series with the load and the neutral you will become part of the current path or if your neutral is not properly bonding to ground you can get shocked.

    BUT I WOULDN'T TEST THIS!!!!!!!

  3. they pretty much are

  4. as it sits there alone and u touch it nothing will happen u can touch a hot wire and nothing will happen only until u complete the circuit will u get zapped

  5. Short answer:

The neutral is a lot less dangerous than the 'Hot' wires,

but if you had to ask this, you've got no business

being where you can touch any of them.

    More detail:

If the system is properly connected, all wire intact,

there should be little to no potential to ground at the

neutral. (Not enough to shock you.)

You can be shocked hot to neutral, and if the neutral

is broken, and a load is connected, you could wind up

completing the circuit and getting shocked that way.
