Can you get a virus from youtube?

And I heard that the p**n web is not the one who give you virus but its the ad that they have...is that true? so you can watch like p**n web?

In order to get a computer virus, you have to accept files onto your computer, and these files must be run by your computer. You CANNOT get a virus simply be visiting a website, however a virus can REQUEST access to your computer when you visit the website. If you have a decent browser and antivirus system, this is normally not a problem.

Sometimes viruses are embedded (hidden) inside other files. In Microsoft Windows, these files are usually .EXE files. Again, unless you deliberately download and run these files, a virus getting on your system is unlikely.

Computer viruses are just pieces of computer code. They can't think for themselves, and they can't magically attack your computer without cause. Believe it or not, it takes work to get your computer infected!

I don't think that watching youtube is causing this problem, but if you are visiting pornographic websites (which are notorious for viruses), you should at least use a browser with decent security measures, such as Mozilla Firefox. Under no circumstances should you use Internet Explorer, because it is not safe.

You need to run a good antivirus program, quarantine the virus, and then get better security measures. It's your data, so YOU need to protect it!

No you CANNOT get a virus from youtube , don't believe what people say , the video you're watching on youtube is not even the same one that was uploaded , when you upload a video to youtube they convert it to FLV , so don't worry , just be careful not to click on ads .

And yes, you can get a virus, i got one from youtube and had to clean my comoputer which wasted all my time =(
