Can you get a virus on an iPhone?

well I'm on an itouch mow not the phone but I was wondering can I get a virus on this and if so how do I avoid it?

well im not possitive, ? but i would think YES.

i have gotton one on my ipod before from a song i downloaded.

Any device that has a software operating system is vulnerable to a virus.  Assuming someone has written one for the iphone (possible, but not likely) you could potentially get it.  This will always be a risk, especially when using phone based internet applications.

I have no idea how you'd avoid a phone based virus (other than staying off the internet, and not opening any sorts of attachments.)

I would take steps to back up your phones data on a regular basis, that way if you do get a virus, you can have the phone memory erased, and a fresh operating system reinstalled.
