  2. yes, even when in your vehicle traveling.  you should always turn off your BT devices when not in use.  it is the simplest way to avoid any issues.  good luck!

  3. Yes you can, make sure you turn your blue-tooth off whenever your not using it. No need for an anti-virus, not sure you can even get them.

  4. Sigh... It's not that folks don't know - it's that folks know so many things that just ain't so... Here is a CORRECT answer to your question.

Basically, it depends on your phone model. Most phone models cannot be infected. Only the phones that use the Symbian S60 R2 operating system (mostly - the older models of Nokia smart phones) are seriously at risk. (Proof-of-concept viruses also exist for devices running the PalmOS, Windows Mobile and Symbian  UIQ operating systems - but they can't survive in the wild.) There are no viruses for phones running the Symbin S60 R3 oprating system (mostly - the newer models of Nokia smart phones), since it is much more secure and incompatible with the R2 version. Since you did not specify your exact phone model, I can't tell you whether it can be infected.

If you have one of the vulnerable phone models, it would be a good idea to install an anti-virus program on it (yes, they do exist) - although you should realize the a phone is much, much less likely to enconter a virus than a PC connected to the Internet.

Also, viruses for mobile phones do not infect your phone while you browse the Internet from it. They infect via Bluetooth file transfer, MMS (*not* SMS) messages and MMC card exchange. A car with a Bluetooth device CANNOT be infected by these viruses - this is an urban legend.

If your phone looks like an USB drive when connected to your PC, and if your PC is infected with some particular kinds of viruses, the virus can copy itself to your phone. However, it will be inert there - it won't be able to run on the phone and it won't even be able to infect another PC, because autoplay does not work for USB drives. So, technically, the phone won't be infected.

I hope this answers your question and clears most of the misinformation posted by the other answerers.
