Can you get an STD from showering in a dorm shower without flip flops?

I broke my ankle and totally forgot them the other day. Am i gonna get some STD or foot thing!?!?

uhhh since when are there foot STDs?? But you could get athlete's foot.

If you're wearing a cast, I would be most concerned with not exposing the injured foot to the shower floor, as the fungus that causes Athlete's Foot (tinea pedis) could affect your injured foot due to the fact that you can't really wash and dry a cast while your foot is in it. Otherwise, exercise common sense and hygiene: wash and dry your feet thoroughly, esp. between the toes, allow your feet to breathe occasionally by going barefoot(like when you sleep), and of course to wear sandals around the pool, restrooms, or public showers, to decrease your chances of being exposed to tinea pedis. Also, there is no STD transmitted through a public shower on your feet; knowledge is power. I would perhaps read up on common STD's and other communal illnesses to avoid other potential incidents.
