Can you get an appraisal on a property you don't own?

I own a property that someone else paid to have an appraisal done on without my knowledge or consent. Is this legal

  1. .   Some banks do drive-by appraisals on properties they don't own (the owners haven't paid in 5 months so the bank is gonna own it soon) so it's legal.   And you would smile if that person called you to offer you cash for the appraised price.  Sit back and see what develops. Could be fun.


  2. Yes, unfortunetly some information will always be public.  lets say for example your home was about to be repossed or was about to be foreclosed on there are websites such as http://x.azjmp.com/1n2GH where they can go and see all this information.

  5. is it the resident that had the appraisal? if so, of course they are allowed to invite whomever they wish into their home. and home values are a matter of public record.

  7. How did the appraiser get into the house?  He couldn't have gotten a good appraisal without having access to the inside...
