Or do you need to get a ride to get where you want to go?

  1. I don't know Marbella myself, but pretty much everywhere in Europe is foot-able.  Or you might need a bus to get places that are far apart, but many people in Spain, (and the rest of Europe) don't own cars, and get around on foot, or with public transportation.

Marbella is not that large nor spread out a city...you should be fine without a car, and in any case, finding parking is more difficult than it is usually worth.

Here's a pretty decent map.  I'm going to guess, based on every city I do know in Spain, that everything you want to see is pretty much inside that sort of oval bounded by the N 340, calle Serenata, Av Cánovas del Castillo, and Av. Arias de Velasco.  If your hotel is far from there, you might need a ride into the center, and it does look like there is a bunch of urban sprawl, so if you aren't staying close in, you will need some sort of transport, but you probably don't want to rent a car, if that's what you were thinking.  And then there's the price of gas... oh, yeah, not really so much more than here.  They pay about a Euro per liter, which works out to about 4.50, maybe 5.00 a gallon.  (maybe more with the exchange rate.  You'd have to really do the math...I don't think it's worthwhile, though, public transport is excellent.)

  2. That depends on how big your feet are.  I live in Marbella but I always always wear shoes.
