Can you get arrested or fined for flicking off a minor, like a teenager?

Now, I know that it is rude to flick off anyone, but occasionally I get nasty looks from teenage punks and I get the urge to flick them off. I am human after all. Now I have been told in my state while driving that it is not illegal, it's just rude. But what about flicking off minors? I know that if I did so it would be stooping to their level, but please just answer the question.

  1. It depends on your state laws.

In Texas, the answer would be yes, it's possible but unlikely.  This could be considered an offensive gesture resulting in a "disorderly conduct" charge - which can get you arrested and put in jail for a class C misdemeanor (which is only punishable by up to a $500 fine).

Nevertheless, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a police officer who's anxious to arrest someone for flipping someone off...at most, he might ticket you.

  2. I have no idea about the legalities of it...but, I know what you mean about a@@hole teenagers who think they are just above everyone else.  I just don't do anything, just because they are minors.  Maybe I am part to blame for that.  I have told my kids if I see you do anything like that, I will beat them.  I try the fear with my own.

  3. Yes it is illegal. It is a class C or B Misdemeanor. If someone feels offended and feels like going through with getting a cop you can get a citation also a date in court.

  4. If you feel you are being accosted or disrespected then you should stand up for yourself and flick them off.

It's not "rude" if they are asking for it, it's called justice and sticking up for yourself.

    IMO

Don't do it if you think they could threaten your safety, though.
