Can you get arthritis from hitting a punching bag?

ive been boxing since i was in middle school..im in college now. just wondering if its possible to get arthritis when im older

  1. I suppose, but not necessarily.  On the one hand you are doing an activity that has an impact on your joints, but on the other hand you're wrapping your hands and sending most of the impact force up the forearm bones & into your muscles.

    I don't think anybody truly knows, but if you're real concerned about it try to poll a real boxing forum and hear from the old guys that have been doing it awhile.  Bursitis sounds more likely to me than Arthritis, but I bet it's not a big issue.  Just wrap and train well, and give yourself rests.

  3. any damage, whether you feel it or not has a potential threat to be just that.. take care, you only get one set
