She insists that she now has better than 20/20 vision could that be true: if 20/20 is perfect vision whay would you want better than perfect is perfect not good enough.

I suspect that they tell you that so you think they have done a better than perfect job on your eye surgery!

  1. Yes, because that's what happened to me.  I also didn't think it was possible but I can now read two lines better than the 20/20 line on the charts!

  2. You can get better than 20/20 - the following explanation of the term is from Wiki...

In the term "20/20 vision" the numerator refers to the distance in feet from which a person can reliably distinguish objects separated by an angle of 1 arc minute

  3. This is referred to as overcorrection.  Her distance vision will be slightly better than the average person's.  However, the cost comes with near vision.  Especially as you age, the lens loses some capacity to adjust its shape so that you can read or see things close to you and then people need reading glasses.  This is what happened to me.  It is by no means awful, but it is slightly inconvenient.  I do enjoy, however, being able to see without glasses or contacts.  I also have trouble with halos around lights at night.  Hopefully she does not have that too.  If only one eye is better than 20/20, then the situation is better because at least one eye can focus well on near vision. -

  4. my husband had laser eye surgery and has 20/15

20/20 is a standard rating for perfection

  5. Yes, my husband and I had lasik and he sees 20/15 better than me at 20/20. He can see things before I do.

  6. 20/20 is perfect eyesight and the highest reference number for it.

  7. Almost everyone has better than 20/20 vision.  20/20 was a standard invented over a century ago to signify normal.  I always think of it this way: 20/20 is the worst someone can see and still have "normal" vision.

  8. yes, I had Lasik and I now see better than 20/20... I see 20/15, which is better than 20/20
