Question:

Can you get bleach out of denim?

Bleach got on my new denim, high waisted skirt and i'm pissed. It's a dark denim skirt and the bleach caused the white stain, that bleach always does. I wanted to know if there is anyway to get rid of that white stain or a way to cover it up. I've only wore the skirt three times!

  1. I don't know of any way to remove a bleach stain - bleach takes the colour out of something so all you can do is put the colour back into it.

Try a permanent marker ink, laundry ink (but I don't know if they make blue), or you could even re-dye the whole skirt.

The only other alternative I can think of is to buy an embroidered motif and sew it over the "stain".

Some motifs now are really beautiful so that would look quite nice - especially if you could find one that is a good match for the denim shade.

    Happy hunting!

  2. I would get it done professionally. You never get it to look right by trying to just die that patch. I know some dry cleaners used to do dyeing at one time.

  3. Nope!  In fact it's not actually there any more.  It has removed the color permanently.  The only thing that I've discovered helps is to get a pen, marker, paint, or anything that CAN stain clothes, and experiment, filling in the bleached area.  If it is a small area, this can really work pretty well.  It won't be so noticeable to anyone else, only you, because you know it's there.  If it's a large area  bleach stain the rest of the skirt and start a new look!  Just kidding!  You have my sympathy, I've been there.

  4. You can buy fabric dye at craft stores. Be carefull to match the colour though.

  5. watch out for the dyes....even if you find one to match the denim....the white patch could come out lighter...I would go to the laundry cleaners, see if they can do it

  6. You ca not get bleach out as it has removed the dye color from your denim..You can redye your skirt. If the white spots are small a permanent marker dark blue could be used to color in the white spots..
