  1. yes it is illegal to download music from limewire and the best thing to do is uninstall it so you wont get into trouble

  2. You can still be caught since Limewire still can get your information to track you and your usage regardless of internet security and peer guardian (which is more effective using torrent sites) due to the way the program operates.  Limewire has been turning over user information in an attempt to get a lawsuit dismissed by cooperating with the RIAA; something that has been greatly publicized.

  3. Yes. If you ever used limewire without any packet filtering systems they can find you.

  4. NO, you cannot get caught if you don't share, the way the RIAA catches people is by searching for music downloads, then downloading each one and logging the IP.

The RIAA uses the same strategy as the government uses with drugs, if you get a user(in this case a downloader) you catch one, take down a distributor( in this case someone sharing files) and you prevent hundreds from access to whatever they were distributing. This also fits with the RIAA's whole "educate, not punish" line that they spam about.

Keep on downloading, and remember scan everything with KIS7.

and at Devildoll's answer I suggest you just switch to frostwire, it has pro features free and has the same look and feel as limewire: http://www.frostwire.com/

(it was in fact a split from limewire over the possibility of something like this)
