Can you get charged long distance through texting?

I'm on my Verizon cell phone and I'm texting someone in Maryland i think. And I'm in Michigan! How much will my parents get charged?

And is it long distance? Thanks

  1. no.   the only reason i did is because i was in North Carolina and i was texting a friend in Thailand.   if its US to US you should be fine.

    there's no long distance on texts. its still the 5 or 10 cents a text. unless you have a plan

  4. No it is not long distance, sending a text is just like sending e-mail.  The only charge you may get is if you dont have a plan that covers texting.
