I have heard that you could only exchange CUC in cuba but I read a recent review from a traveller who ordered CUC from their bank but said it took 10 days for it to come in. Has anyone else purchased the CUC in Canada? Thanks

  1. I've asked my bank about that and it's not possible. Do you have that link so we can read it too?

Other than the fact that CUCs have no value outside of Cuba, the CUC change from time to time, which is one of the reasons why it's recommended to change your money over when leaving Cuba.

Either way, you'll still get charged the regular bank fees. Just take your money and change it in Cuba...and only as you need, not at all at once so you don't lose when changing back.

  2. Unless there has been a recent change no,  you cannot buy CUC outside Cuba.  You also cannot convert leftover CUC to Canadian when you return to Canada,

  3. It is certainly not usual.

Perhaps some branch providing an extra service - but its hard to see how they can do it officially.
