Can you get energy saving light bulbs for dimmer switches?

My local ASDA & B+Q don't have such a thing. The normal energy saving light bulbs are not compatible with dimmers. Does the technology/design and way energy saving bulbs work, mean they don't support dimmer switches?

  1. They do support the light but the energy saver has to warm up inside so try switching it on full blast the when the light has been on for 5min or so use the dimmer this should help. If it still doesn't help purchase a couple of dimmer lamps they tend to run low voltage as the bub will be and you wont have it on full power.

  2. Not that i know of and the standard energy saving bulbs are allegedly not compatible. the energy saving bulbs are a pain in the *** any way in any room that you are briefly in and out of.

  3. No, you cannot buy CFL bulbs at a reasonable price that will operate with dimmer switches. some other types of energ saver bulbs may be OK i.e. the ones that look very similar to ordinary bulbs that you occasionally see.

    I've seen them in homebase.

    These dont save as much energy as CFL though.

    CFL = compact flourescent light.
