My son runs a old type TV through a satalite dish and gets free channels through a digibox. He wants to buy himself a new plasma TV with built in freeview. Will he be able to get the normal freeview channels from the TV using his satalite dish or will he have to get a digital ariel. Also will his digibox work on the new TV too?

Thanks in advance for any advice

  1. All new TV's sold now have digital tuners built in them now. People with older televisions will require a DT converter box if you receive analog now. TV Antanna.

If you have cable vision, no changes required. If you have a dish and receive broadcast from a satelite you are not required to purchase a box.

If you do need a box, type DTV BOX in your search box. You can get a coupon for $40.00 dollars. The cost of a box at Walmart is $40.00 If you are on satelite dish now, you should get the same channels you have now.

  2. Hi you cant get free view through sat dish

His box should work on any tv

  3. The new plasma TV will not need a freeview box and should work through your Aeriel if it's in good condition ,and you can receive a digital signal in your area.

If you want to continue the ability to get freesat, you can now get free-to-air HD broadcasts with the appropriate decoder.

  4. A new service was launched just last week.

    Google Freesat

  5. If he gets a TV with built-in freeview, he will have both satellite, and terrestrial freeview at his disposal; many channels are available on both systems. Terrestrial digital needs a good signal, but can be dealt with later, if he has a problem with reception.

  6. his digibox works on the new TV
